Writing Articles and using keyword searches

Choose the right keyword Get best keywords when writing your articles.  The right words and phrases will help to rank that article on Google, Yahoo and Bing.

The right keywords will have your ranking on the top pages, but how do you know what the right keywords are?

It can be hard to know what works or terms will be the best for Google, things have changed in terms of search guidelines and behavior over the last few years.  Google uses your keywords to determine where to rank your content on its search engine.  It is important the your keywords are related to the content on your page.  Just popping in an unrelated keyword or phrase that ranks high on the scale will not get your site ranked.  Google frowns on this type of activity.

One of the reasons to do a keyword search would be to find topics that are relevant to your site in which you can create an article knowing that your audience will be looking for the phrase or keyword, which in turn should rank your site.

Keyword Types

There are basically three types of keywords which are:

  • Head Keyword which is usually one or two words and located in the title of your article or at the very least in the first sentence.  This would be a high ranking keyword.
  • Body Keyword these would be word phrases that would be placed within the body of the article – maybe one of two phrases – these would rank well but not high.
  • End Keyword this would be a few words in a phrase that has a little less ranking.

Using these types of keywords in your article will catch the low hanging fruit as well as the high so to speak.

Jaaxy Keyword Research Tool is the one I use.  I like that it has the ability to do so many searches and research.  It will also tell you where keywords used on your website rank with the top search engines.  I can save and monitor words or phrases to see how they are ranking over time – whether they are going up or down.

Google has a keyword tool as well.  It is called Keyword Planner, you will need to sign up for a Google Adwords account in order to use this keyword planner, but it can be a good way to start. Follow the link below to test it out.
